Gemma has worked in Health & Social Care for 20 years in a variety of settings, both in the community and in a hospital setting. She is a qualified teacher and moved into Care to work with young adults with a range of behavioural, emotional and developmental problems.

After a period working with adults with learning disabilities, she moved on to work for the National Autistic Society in a secure hospital setting, supporting adults with autistic spectrum disorders and forensic backgrounds who were detained under the Mental Health Act. In this role, she focused primarily on training staff in behaviour management and low arousal strategies.

Gemma has worked as a QCF Assessor and Internal Verifier for the last seven years and has delivered training in all aspects of health and social care and management during this time.

Gemma has a number of years management experience. She has also been involved in coordinating design and delivery of learning programmes and curriculum as well as training delivery, and is the literacy co-ordinator for Progression, having gained her Level 3 Certificate for Essential Skills Practitioners.
